Employment Support

Employment Advisors in Talking Therapies

Free and confidential employment advice and support is available to any person accessing treatment with NHS Barnsley Talking Therapies.

Once you are signed up to the treatment service, if you want to explore or gain help with finding or keeping a job, you can be referred to your own specialist Employment Advisor

Please speak to a therapist who will make the referral on your behalf. If you are waiting for treatment, you can contact our admin team on 01226 644900.

“I have made amazing progress and I can’t thank you enough.”

“I have been trapped like this for 4 years and now I can work again. Thank you so much.”

“My employment advisor helped me to see my true potential. Something I had lost sight of after a tough period of my life.”

Who we support

  • Specialist Employment Advisors are integrated in Barnsley NHS Talking Therapies service. We support clients age 16 and over who are accessing treatment for common mental health conditions, and who also have employment needs that may be jeopardising them from achieving their employment goals when returning to, remaining in or finding work.

Why

  • Work is important to all of us as it provides the financial, intellectual and social basis to build and maintain our lives and relationships. It gives us a purpose on both a daily and long-term basis which challenges and rewards us. Research shows us that the right employment can act as a therapeutic tool for improving our health and wellbeing. As Employment Advisors, we are here to help you when problems arise with your employment circumstances and get you back on track.

Within NHS Barnsley Talking Therapies, Specialist Employment Advisors work jointly with therapists to ensure they can offer personalised support that works alongside your therapy treatment plan, supporting you to move into meaningful or sustainable employment.
